Lemon Zinger Smoothie: The ideal green smoothie to start your day. Clean and green and loaded with nutrition. Low on the glycemic index, this dairy-free and creamy smoothie is also nut-free, vegan and gluten-free.

Green Lemon Zinger Smoothie
One for breakfast and one for an afternoon snack.

Do you think that what you eat for breakfast can set the tone for your day? I like to make sure I have a nourishing breakfast. Something that is energizing and will also help me power through my morning.  I have a few favorites that I cycle through, depending on my mood.

When I start my day with something sweet, it sets me up to crave more sweet foods all day long. This green lemon zinger smoothie is a great option if you don’t want to start your day with a sugary breakfast. Even natural sugar that comes from fruit will spike your blood sugar.

Green Lemon Zinger Smoothie
Simple, wholesome ingredients for optimum nutrition.

This recipe makes a full 16 oz green smoothie. Works well for me. I don’t get the late morning munchies when I have one. Sometimes I make it for an afternoon pick me up. Perfect way to avoid the 3pm slump!

Green Lemon Zinger Smoothie
Enough energy to keep you going all morning long.

I love the simple ingredient list of this smoothie. All stuff I regularly keep stocked in my fridge and pantry anyhow. Lemons help prevent constipation, high blood pressure, indigestion as well as improve the skin, hair and teeth. Ginger provides that great zing of flavor and is very anti-inflammatory which I can totally appreciate on a workout day.  Apples are one of the lowest glycemic fruits you can choose, which means they don’t spark a rise in glucose levels in your body that will trigger an insulin response. Steady blood sugar levels equal steady energy levels.

Green Lemon Zinger Smoothie
So much goodness in one glass.

Regular consumption of leafy greens is recommended because they are abundant in health beneficial components. Consuming these nutrients on a daily basis helps to maintain cardiovascular, skin, digestive and eye health.  Starting your day with a green lemon zinger smoothie sets you up to be on your way to meeting your daily greens requirements.

Green Lemon Zinger Smoothie
Simple to make, easy to digest.

The avocado in this smoothie fills many roles. Creaminess is just one of the benefits to adding avocado. The fat content in the avocado helps me stay full longer. It also provides vital transit for the fat-soluble vitamins A and K that are found in the leafy greens.

Green Lemon Zinger Smoothie
Big on nutrition, big on taste.

Starting your day with a green smoothie has long been touted as something beneficial. But, maybe not so much if that green smoothie is loaded up on sugary fruits. This green lemon zinger smoothie is low on the glycemic index, filled with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits that will fill you up without weighing you down….literally!

Put a little zing into your morning.

Thanks. I tend to not like sweet smoothies and this is my current go to. Almost every single day. The healthy fats in the avocado help you absorb all the goodness from the greens.
