Ingredient Notes

- Cacao powder is less processed than cocoa powder, so that’s what I usually use. For passover, use cocoa with a KforP certification.
- If you buy almond butter that’s salted, omit the salt in the recipe. If you make your own, with only almonds, I think the frosting tastes better with a pinch of salt.
How to make it

Place almond butter, maple syrup, cacao powder, salt and vanilla into the bowl of a food processor or personalized size blender cup.

Process until smooth. Scrape down sides. Add water. Process again. Scrape down sides.

Frosting will be thick, creamy and spreadable. Perfect for a birthday cake or cupcakes.

Store in an airtight container in the fridge. If frosting thickens too much, add 1 tablespoon water at a time, and mix thoroughly until desired consistency is achieved.
Debra’s pro tips

- Perfectly spreadable as a frosting as the recipe is written…..and if you want to drizzle it over a sponge cake or bundt cake, add more water, 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing well before adding more. Stop when it’s a drippy consistency.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- One recipe will make 2 cups frosting, which is enough for a double layer cake.
