Mince mushrooms, walnuts and onions. Use water or broth to saute until beginning to soften.
Sprinkle on nutritional yeast, garlic powder, smoked paprika, cumin and black pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
Whisk together tomato paste, tamari and water until evenly pouralbe.
Pour tomato mixture over veggies and mix to combine.
Stir in the cooked lentils and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Continue to cook until mixture is browned and crumbly, resembling ground beef.
